This blog has moved to A Small Orange

I have today moved the blog from WordPress.com to A Small Orange. WordPress.com works great, the reason I moved to a host of my own is that I wanted more freedom when it comes to themes, plugins and widgets. The move comes with a price, cost for hosting and more work, but I think it [...]

The Cook Trio

I found The Cook Trio through StumbleUpon. A quote from their website:
“Jazz Manouche” or Gypsy Jazz, has a rich history steeped in culture and tradition. This guitar-based music is the only Jazz form whose origins are found outside the United States. It was created and made popular in the 1930’s and 40’s solely by the [...]

Paul Potts sings opera

I stumbled across A Mobile Phone Salesman called Paul Potts. A modest Paul tells the jury he shall sing opera, watch the jury’s faces. And then Paul starts to sing Nessun Dorma and really grabs the attention of both jury and audience. An amazing video!
You can also watch the video at YouTube, Paul sings Nessun [...]

John Cleary Gallery

John Cleary Gallery is a gallery with fine art photography, in black and white. There are some really great photos, like these by Rodney Smith.

Caroline Lavelle

Browsing around at StumbleUpon can lead to really nice things. That is how I found Caroline Lavelle, singer and cello player. There are some songs and videos available in her media section. And there are more videos at YouTube, I found Moorlough Shore which is a beautiful video.

“Be the change your seek in the world.” Gandhi.
The Michelango-quote is terrific, a good guide when it [...]

Once in a blue moon

The expression “Once in a Blue Moon” is true this month. It is used to indicate that something is a very rare event. A blue moon refers to the second full moon that occurs in any calendar month. June 2007 has two full moons, on June 1 and on June 30. Two full moons within [...]

The Phrase Finder

While searching for some phrases I found The Phrase Finder. There presentation says:
Whether you want to resolve a friendly argument over how a saying or phrase originated or whether you just enjoy words, you’ll probably find something here to interest you.
There are also Well-known misquotations and Popular Fallacies.

Life, plans and opportunities

John Lennon said ” Life is what happens to you while you’re busy making other plans.” To me it does not mean to skip plans entirely, just that we need to enjoy life too.
“Opportunity favors the prepared mind” is the tag line for BlackRock, an investment company. It is also a great way of thinking, [...]
